Contemporary Encaustic Techniques Sat., March 6, 10 am-3 pm Learn solvent-free approaches to working and painting safely with encaustic. This medium is compatible with drawing, oil painting and sculpture. Learning will be hands-on with demos covering traditional and contemporary methods. No prior experience necessary. Image Transferring & Monoprinting to Wax Sun., March 7, 10 am-3 pm This course will concentrate on transferring and layering personal imagery onto and into the wax. Imitation gold leaf, carbon paper and graphite transferring will be some of the techniques covered. A copy machine will be available to assist with projects. Open to intermediate and advanced students who have taken a previous encaustic workshop. Takes place at my studio in The Crane Arts in Philadelphia. $225 M/$265 NM, $25 Supply Fee payable in class
This series of workshops is being offered to students, practicing artists and teachers. For most of these classes, no prior experience in encaustic is necessary. The teaching approach is practical with many demonstrations covering traditional and contemporary techniques and plenty of hands on work time. These classes are geared towards providing enough working knowledge to continue working independently and safely.
